love as survival

I've been evil, I've been cruel,
in my own little world... so
I understand how people can be,
and where it comes from; fear and
insecurity. if we're left scared and alone,
our hearts will turn to stone, or burn
with anger for whoever;
especially ourselves. hate becomes
the way to connect with the world, or
the way to keep from connecting. mostly,
it leads us to confusion, to seeking out
salvation, though it may come shallow
and empty quick. I think most folk learn
how to find their answer in
their work, consumption, and alliances based
off knowing the same names for things.
